14 · PRIORITY SHEET · CANBERRA, ACT
Eyebrow tattooing is the main focus of our studio, and powder brows are one of the techniques we come back to most. This sheet doesn’t explain the technique from scratch. It covers the decisions behind a powder brow: how it is mapped, how dense it should be and whether it suits you at all.
Reference photograph: eye and full brow.
A · THE LOOK
Soft shading instead of individual strokes, similar to brows filled in with pencil or powder.
B · THE APPROACH
Mapped to your face first, then built up gradually. Your face sets the shape, not a template.
C · THE RANGE
Sits alongside ombre, microblading and nano and combination brows.
D · WHERE IT STARTS
With a consultation at our Canberra studio, carried out in person.
STATIONS ON THE MAP
A powder brow can look heavy or barely there, depending on choices made before the needle touches your skin. We make these decisions with you, one by one, and you see the mapped shape before we start.
01 Shape. We measure your brow against your own bone structure and the natural line of your existing hair, so the shape suits your face rather than following a trend.
02 Density. How filled in you want the brow to look, from a light wash of colour to a more defined finish that’s closer to everyday makeup.
03 Gradient. Whether the shading stays even or fades softly from front to tail. A stronger gradient moves the result towards an ombre brow.
04 Pigment. We choose a tone to suit your skin, your hair and any existing pigmentation. If old cosmetic tattoo is still visible, we may talk about correction first.
05 Technique fit. If shading alone won’t give you what you’re after, we’ll say so and suggest strokes or a combination brow instead.
QUESTION SEQUENCE
Ask yourself these questions before your consultation. There are no wrong answers. They just help us start in the right place.
Do you fill your brows in every morning?
If you reach for pencil or powder rather than a brow gel, the soft look of a powder brow may feel familiar.
Are your brows sparse, or uneven from side to side?
Shading can help balance the shape and fill in areas where hair is thin.
Do you want to see individual hairs?
If so, microblading and feathering may suit you better. Our guide Strokes or Shading? compares the two.
Do you want more volume?
Cosmetic tattooing adds colour and definition. It isn’t a substitute for injectables, surgery or medical treatment of the skin.
AFTER THE APPOINTMENT
Many clients don’t realise that freshly shaded brows look different from healed ones. Straight after treatment, a powder brow can look darker and more defined than it will once it settles. The final colour and softness only show as your skin heals.
How a powder brow heals depends on your skin, any existing pigmentation, your lifestyle and how closely you follow aftercare. Pigment may fade or change over time, and maintenance appointments may be needed to keep the shape and colour you chose. Our guide to Healing, Results and Aftercare covers this in more detail.
Results vary from client to client. Cosmetic tattooing doesn’t suit everyone, and we will discuss your individual circumstances at consultation.

Cosmetic tattooing should enhance your natural features, not change who you are. If powder brows sound right for you, or you aren’t sure yet, a consultation with Olha Po is the place to decide. She has worked in cosmetic tattooing since 2016. We’re open 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, seven days a week. You can call us on 0434 424 000.
