HEALING,
RESULTS AND
AFTERCARE

A cosmetic tattoo isn’t finished when you leave the chair. Your skin needs time to settle, and the brow, lip or eyeliner you see straight afterwards will change as it heals. This guide explains what shapes that process so you know what to expect.

THE MOST COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

DAY ONE IS NOT
THE RESULT

Many clients expect the look straight after treatment to be the final result. It isn’t. Healing happens in stages, and each stage can look quite different. How long each one lasts varies from person to person, so we talk through your own healing with you at your appointment rather than giving a fixed timetable.

A — STRAIGHT AFTER

Colour often looks bolder, darker or sharper than intended, and the area may feel tender.

B — WHILE IT SETTLES

The surface skin renews. Flaking is common, and pigment can look patchy or seem to fade.

C — HEALED

Colour settles into the skin and softens. Now you can judge what has held well.

D — OVER TIME

Pigment gradually fades or changes. Maintenance appointments may be needed to keep the look.

FIVE FACTORS

WHAT SHAPES
YOUR RESULT

Two people can have the same technique and the same pigment and still heal differently. That is why we design every treatment around your face and skin instead of a one-size-fits-all template.

Your skin. Oilier, drier, thinner or more mature skin can hold pigment and define a line differently.

Existing pigmentation. Earlier cosmetic tattoos and your natural skin tone affect how new colour reads once healed.

Healing. Everyone’s skin repairs at its own pace, and that changes how evenly pigment settles.

Lifestyle. Sun exposure, skincare products and everyday habits all play a part over time.

Aftercare. Following the instructions we give you for your treatment helps your skin heal as well as it can.

LONGER-LASTING, NOT PERMANENT

FADING AND
MAINTENANCE

Cosmetic tattooing lasts much longer than daily makeup, but it doesn’t stay exactly as it was on the day. Pigment may soften, lighten or shift in tone as your skin renews and ages. How quickly that happens depends on the same factors that shape your healed result.

If you’d like to talk about how your treatment has healed, contact us. Later on, maintenance appointments may help keep your brows, lips or eyeliner looking defined. We’ll talk through timing with you individually, based on how your skin has responded.

If an older cosmetic tattoo has faded unevenly or changed colour, our correction and removal page explains how we assess it.

A NOTE ON SCOPE

Cosmetic tattooing enhances natural features. It is not a medical treatment and does not replace care for skin conditions, dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections or cosmetic surgery. Lip blush adds colour and definition, not volume. If you have a skin condition or a health concern, please speak with your medical practitioner. Tell us about it at your consultation too, so we can consider whether treatment is suitable for you.

Results vary from client to client. No cosmetic tattoo treatment is suitable for everyone, and no result can be guaranteed.
